One of the most common signs of facial aging is the loss of volume in the cheek area. Juvederm® Voluma™ XC is the first and only hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal filler approved by the FDA to instantly increase the volume of the cheeks. The natural-looking results of Voluma® and Vollure® last up to two years with optimal treatment.
How do JUVÉDERM® Voluma® and Vollure®Injections work?
Juvderm Voluma® and Vollure® are the newest additions to the Juvederm® Hyaluronic Acid (HA) family of products. Voluma® and Vollure® are injectable dermal fillers that help to add volume to facial tissue, restoring a smooth and more youthful appearance and can be used to correct many common signs of aging including:
- Restoring volume to cheeks
- Smoothing moderate lines around the eyes
- Smoothing wrinkles around the nose and mouth
Voluma® and Vollure® use a combination of low and high molecular weight HA. This contributes to the product’s lift capacity and duration.
How are Voluma® and Vollure®Injections performed?
Voluma® and Vollure® are administered to targeted areas through a smooth-flowing injection, allowing the provider full control to achieve the desired look. Voluma® and Vollure® are formulated with Lidocaine (an anesthetic) to reduce discomfort by numbing the injection area during treatment.
The procedure is non-invasive with minimal downtime or recovery. The total treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes and results are nearly instant. Patients can undergo a full treatment during their lunch hour and go right back to work.

Are Chemical Skin PeelsPainful?
During the treatment it will feel warm to hot & may tingle for approximately 24 hours. The 2nd and 3rd day the skin will feel sensitive, tight and dry and could possible be tender to touch.

How long do Voluma® and Vollure®results last?
The effects of Juvederm® Voluma® and Vollure® typically last for approximately 9 months to a year from the date of treatment with some patients even enjoying and experiencing the effects for up to 2 years with optimum correction.
What should I knowbefore my treatment?
You should stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil supplements, and other blood thinners for 2 weeks prior to injection, if possible, to decrease your risk of bruising at the injection site. Also, you should not have any dental work for one month prior or two months after your Voluma® and Vollure® injection treatments. If you are taking any other blood thinners, please inform Dr. Day during your visit. We do not recommend any injectable treatment immediately prior to a special event.
What should I expectafter my treatment?
- Minimal recovery or downtime. As with any injection, there is a possibility of bruising and swelling.
- Immediate improvement in the treatment areas.
- Results can vary and you may need more than one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing results.
