unevenskin tone
Uneven skin tones can range from light or dark spots on your skin, to dark patches, called Melasma. There are various treatments that can help reduce, or even eliminate the appearance of uneven skin tones regardless of how light or dark they are. Brown sun spots or sun damage also give the skin an uneven tone and can be effectively treated.
Uneven Skin Tones and Sun Spots are also known as:
- Hyperpigmentation
- Sun Damage
- Age Spots
- Melasma
Causes of Uneven Skin Tones
An uneven skin tone, or hyperpigmentation, is the result of an over production of melanin. Melanin is what gives skin and hair its color, helps protect skin against damaging UV light and absorbs heat from the sun. However, an overproduction of melanin stimulated by excessive sun exposure, hormones, or scarring, leads to a mottled, uneven skin tone. Sun spots are typically the result of excessive exposure to the sun over time.
