What are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks can be unsightly depressed linear streaks that can be red, white, or very close to your normal skin color.
Stretch marks appear as linear scar tissue with damage to the connective tissue within your skin. Typically, early stretch marks start out pink or red for several months, but as they mature they will become whitish linear depressions in the skin.
Causes of Stretch Marks
Stretch marks develop when the skin stretches beyond its limits, leading to tears in the underlying tissue. They are commonly caused by:
• Pregnancy, particularly on the abdomen, hips, or breasts.
• Bodybuilding, often affecting the arms, legs, and chest.
• Adolescence, due to rapid growth during puberty.
• Sudden weight gain or significant fluctuations in body size.
