HydraFacial MD: The Best Pre-Event Skin Prep

When a significant event is on your calendar—whether it’s a wedding, a milestone celebration, or a high-profile gala—achieving a luminous, flawless complexion is often a key priority.

At Original Skin Med Spa, the HydraFacial MD is a comprehensive skin rejuvenating solution in Broomfield, CO. It is designed to address these pre-event skin care needs without downtime and offers a unique approach to achieving radiant, photo-ready skin.

Unlock Your Radiance: The HydraFacial MD Difference

If you’re wondering why HydraFacial MD is such a popular choice for pre-event skin preparation, it’s because it offers a thorough yet gentle approach to skincare that goes beyond a typical facial. Instead of just cleansing, this treatment combines several steps designed to refresh and hydrate your skin effectively and comfortably.

Here’s what happens during a HydraFacial MD session:

  • Deep Cleansing and Exfoliation: This process starts by removing dead skin cells and clearing away dirt and impurities, helping your skin feel fresh and smooth, almost like hitting the reset button.
  • Gentle Peel: A mild, non-irritating peel loosens buildup in your pores without causing irritation or flaking, which helps refine your skin’s texture and appearance.
  • Comfortable Extraction: A gentle suction method removes blackheads and debris from your pores rather than squeezing or pressing. Many people find this part surprisingly pleasant compared to traditional extractions.
  • Hydration and Nourishment: Finally, the treatment delivers a blend of hydrating ingredients, including antioxidants and peptides, to restore moisture and protect the skin’s barrier. This leaves your skin feeling soft, plump, and healthier overall.

Because it combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration all in one session — and avoids harsh irritation — HydraFacial MD is a popular option for anyone looking to prep their skin before an event. It helps address multiple skin concerns simultaneously, giving your complexion a refreshed and glowing look just in time for the big day.

Why Choose HydraFacial MD for Glowing Skin Before Your Event?

A key benefit of HydraFacial MD is the absence of downtime. Many pre-event skin treatments may leave redness, peeling, or sensitivity, requiring recovery. HydraFacial MD provides immediate improvements in skin clarity, texture, and hydration, allowing clients to proceed with makeup application or step directly into the spotlight.

Smoother pores, more even skin tone, and a radiant finish are all factors that contribute to flawless photos and polished makeup looks.

Ideal Timing: When to Schedule Your HydraFacial MD

For the best results, it is advisable to book your HydraFacial MD approximately 3-7 days before your event. While you will notice an instant glow, this window lets your skin fully absorb hydrating serums, settle into its renewed state, and present at its healthiest.

Whether you are preparing for a momentous social occasion or a professional milestone, this timing maximizes the treatment’s effectiveness and helps your skin present at its best.

Experience HydraFacial MD at Original Skin Med Spa

Original Skin Med Spa offers expert-administered HydraFacial MD treatments in Broomfield, CO, tailored to your unique skin needs. Make sure your skin is as radiant as you are for your next big moment. Schedule your HydraFacial MD consultation today and enter your event with confidence and a luminous glow!

Laser Hair Removal for Different Skin Types: What You Need to Know

Are you tired of dealing with unwanted hair through shaving, waxing, or other temporary methods? Laser hair removal in Broomfield, CO, offers a long-term solution for hair reduction, but it’s crucial to understand how skin type plays a vital role in achieving safe and effective results.

At Original Skin Med Spa, laser hair removal works across different skin tones and hair types while addressing concerns about darker skin tones and sensitive skin.

Why Skin Type Matters in Laser Hair Removal

Laser treatment targets melanin within the hair follicle by converting light energy into heat that damages the follicle to reduce future growth. Since melanin is also present in the skin, improper laser settings can affect surrounding tissue, causing side effects such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.

The Fitzpatrick Scale classifies skin types from I (very fair) through VI (very dark) based on sun sensitivity. Understanding your Fitzpatrick skin type helps determine which laser wavelength and energy level will minimize risks while effectively targeting unwanted hair follicles. This knowledge is essential for safe laser hair removal for all skin types.

Best Laser Technologies for Different Skin Types

Different lasers are optimized for various combinations of skin tone and hair color:

  • Alexandrite Laser (755 nm): Effective primarily on Fitzpatrick I-III with dark hairs.
  • Diode Laser (800–810 nm): Suitable across a broader range including some medium-toned skins (I-IV).
  • Nd:YAG Laser (1064 nm): The preferred choice for darker complexions (Fitzpatrick V-VI) due to its longer wavelength that bypasses epidermal melanin more safely; often regarded as the best laser technology for skin of color.

At Original Skin Med Spa, we utilize the Lumenis LightSheer laser, which is considered the Gold Standard for diode laser hair removal. This advanced system allows for customization based on your unique factors, ensuring safety and efficacy during treatment. A unique feature of the Lumenis LightSheer is its built-in cooling device, which makes treatments more comfortable and protects the skin throughout the laser treatment process.

How We Customize Treatments Based on Your Skin and Hair

Original Skin Med Spa prioritizes patient safety by conducting thorough consultations that assess your Fitzpatrick classification and evaluate your natural hair color, density, and texture before recommending any procedure. Patti Cox, our Master-Trained Injection and Certified Laser Specialist, leads this process to ensure that each treatment plan is tailored to your needs.

Our certified specialists adjust parameters such as pulse duration, fluence levels (energy delivered), spot size selection, plus cooling techniques tailored specifically toward sensitive or tanned areas when necessary — all aimed at minimizing discomfort while maximizing results related to permanent unwanted hair reduction goals.

While laser hair removal offers a long-term solution, we also understand that some clients may prefer or require alternative methods. We offer waxing and laser hair removal services to cater to various needs and preferences.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right For You?

Take the first step towards smooth, hair-free skin. Schedule a consultation at Original Skin Med Spa today if you live near Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton, Arvada, Northglenn, Louisville, or Erie. We’ll assess your skin type and hair characteristics to determine if laser hair removal is the right solution for your unwanted hair.

Microneedling vs. RF Microneedling: Which Is Right for Your Skin?

Visible skin concerns such as fine lines, acne scars, and uneven texture often persist despite basic skincare efforts, making it difficult to achieve a smooth, youthful appearance. At Original Skin Clinic, we specialize in providing both traditional microneedling and advanced RF microneedling in Broomfield, CO. These targeted procedures are designed to specifically address these common skin issues.

Microneedling and RF Microneedling: What’s the Difference?

Traditional microneedling uses a handheld device with very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin surface. This process triggers a natural healing response that promotes collagen and elastin production, improving texture, tone, and firmness over time.

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling builds on this method by delivering RF energy through the needles into deeper layers of the skin. This added heat stimulates additional collagen production and tightens tissue at a deeper level than microneedling alone. The combined mechanical and thermal effects can provide more comprehensive skin renewal.

What Skin Concerns Do They Treat?

Both methods address a variety of common skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and shallow wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Mild to moderate acne scarring
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Stretch marks

Profound RF microneedling extends the treatment range to more advanced issues such as:

  • Moderate to severe acne scars
  • Dermal laxity and skin sagging
  • Deeper wrinkles

The difference in depth for RF microneedling allows it to target structural skin issues not reached by traditional microneedling.

Who Should Consider Each Treatment?

To help you decide if either of these treatments is a good fit for your skin, consider these factors:

  • Think about your skin concerns: If you’re primarily bothered by mild fine lines, early signs of aging, or slightly uneven texture, traditional microneedling might be a great starting point. It’s generally well-tolerated and offers a more gentle approach.
  • Consider any medical conditions: RF microneedling might not be the best option if you have certain medical implants or metal devices near the area you want to treat. It’s also important to postpone treatment if you have an active skin infection.
  • If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding: It’s essential to chat with your doctor or a qualified healthcare provider before considering either treatment. They can help you understand any potential risks and make the safest choice for you and your baby.

Combining Microneedling with Other Treatments

Microneedling can be effectively combined with several non-invasive treatments and med spa services offered at Original Skin Clinic to enhance results and address comprehensive skin concerns. These treatment combinations are planned based on your unique skin condition and goals.

  • Chemical Peels: These exfoliating treatments remove the outermost skin layers to improve skin texture and tone. When paired with microneedling, chemical peels help prep the skin for deeper collagen induction and better absorption of topical products.
  • Dermaplaning: This gentle exfoliation technique removes dead skin and peach fuzz, creating a smooth surface. Dermaplaning before microneedling can allow for more precise needle penetration and enhanced treatment benefits.
  • Facials and Hydrafacial® MD: Treatments like Hydrafacial MD use hydradermabrasion to cleanse and hydrate the skin deeply. Following microneedling sessions, facials or Hydrafacial treatments can soothe the skin, reduce inflammation, and maintain hydration to support healing.
  • Injectable Treatments (Botox and Dermal Fillers): Injectables typically target dynamic wrinkles or volume loss and are not performed simultaneously with microneedling. However, combining them within an overall regimen offers a comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation.

Making the Right Decision

The decision between traditional and Profound RF microneedling depends on your specific skin concerns, desired outcomes, and individual preferences.

Select traditional microneedling if you have mild to moderate skin issues like fine lines, enlarged pores, or uneven texture, and are looking for a more gentle approach with minimal downtime. This option suits those seeking gradual improvement and overall skin refreshment.

Opt for RF microneedling to address deeper wrinkles, significant scarring, or skin laxity. This offers more intensive collagen stimulation and skin tightening, often producing more noticeable results with fewer sessions.

Ultimately, the best way to know is to schedule a consultation. Our team of skin care professionals will assess your skin, discuss your goals, and help you determine which treatment, if any, is the right choice for you. We want to make sure you feel comfortable and confident in your decision.

Take Action for Your Skin Health

Schedule a consultation with Original Skin Clinic to explore whether traditional microneedling or RF microneedling in Broomfield, CO, aligns best with your skin’s needs. Our specialists will evaluate your skin condition, discuss your goals, and tailor a treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and objectives.

How Collagen Induction Therapy Heals and Softens Surgical Scars

Collagen induction therapy is an effective option for improving the appearance of scars by stimulating the body’s natural healing process. This minimally invasive procedure helps smooth skin texture and restore a more even tone.

Here’s how collagen induction therapy for scars works here at Original Skin Med Spa and Laser Clinic, so you can make a more informed decision for your care.

Stimulates Collagen Production

Collagen is essential for skin repair and elasticity. Collagen induction therapy creates micro-injuries in the skin, triggering a natural healing response that boosts collagen production. This helps scars blend more seamlessly with the surrounding skin.

Improves Skin Texture

An uneven texture is a common concern with surgical scars. This therapy encourages the regeneration of new, smoother skin cells, improving overall skin texture and reducing the roughness of scar tissue.

Enhances Skin Tone

Scars often appear darker or redder than the surrounding skin. Collagen induction therapy helps even out skin tone and minimize discoloration by increasing blood circulation and cellular turnover.

Reduces the Appearance of Raised Scars

Hypertrophic or keloid scars can feel firm and raised. The treatment’s controlled micro-injuries help break down excess scar tissue, leading to a flatter, more natural appearance over time.

Increases Skin Elasticity

Scar tissue tends to be less flexible than normal skin. As collagen production increases, the treated area becomes softer and more pliable, reducing the tightness often associated with surgical scars.

Works on Different Types of Surgical Scars

Collagen induction therapy is an excellent surgical scar treatment. It can improve the appearance of scars from an incision, biopsy, or other procedures.

Safe for Most Skin Types

Unlike some treatment options for surgical scars that may not be suitable for darker skin tones, Collagen induction therapy is safe for many skin types and avoids risking hyperpigmentation.

Minimal Downtime

Many scar treatments require extensive recovery periods. Collagen induction therapy allows most people to return to their regular routine in one to two days, making it a convenient choice.

Pairs Well with Other Scar Treatments

Collagen induction therapy can be combined with other surgical scar treatment methods, such as laser therapy or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), for enhanced results. Combining these treatments further supports skin healing.

Provides Long-Term Results

Since the therapy promotes natural collagen production, the improvements continue over time. Patients can expect more progress six to eight weeks after the treatment. With a proper skincare routine, results can be maintained for the long run.

Find Out If Collagen Induction Therapy Is Right for You

If you’re looking for an effective surgical scar treatment, collagen induction therapy is a good option. To learn more about this treatment and whether it’s the right fit for you, contact Original Skin Med Spa and Laser Clinic.

Our laser specialist can assess your skin and recommend the best approach to improving the appearance of your scars. Schedule your consultation to achieve smoother skin.

How to Manage Acne and Oily Skin in Winter

The harshness of the winter season can disrupt even the most balanced skin. Some experience dryness and flakiness, while others experience more oil and breakouts. Original Skin Med Spa can help you maintain a clear, healthy complexion year-round.

Why Winter Makes Oily Skin and Acne Worse

Winter air feels moist, but it is actually very dry. This dryness makes your skin overproduce oil, clog pores, and cause acne. Indoor heating also strips moisture and worsens dryness and oiliness.

Oily Skin Care Tips for Winter

Here are some tips on how to manage oily skin in winter:

  • Use oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizers for hydration.
  • Cleanse gently twice a day with a foaming cleanser.
  • Exfoliate once or twice a week with mild, non-abrasive products.
  • Use a humidifier to restore moisture to the air.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

Winter Skincare for Acne-Prone Skin

Winter skincare for acne-prone skin requires a slightly different approach. Here’s how to manage acne during these colder months:

  • Choose products with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to fight breakouts.
  • Avoid picking at pimples to prevent scarring and inflammation.
  • Consult a skincare professional or laser specialist at Original Skin Med Spa for personalized treatments.
  • Keep your skin hydrated to reduce bacteria and inflammation.

Finding the Right Balance

Balance hydration and oil control to keep oily skin and acne in check this winter. Pairing these tips with an enhanced skincare routine can keep your complexion clear and glowing all season long.

The Importance of Consistent Skin Care Routines

A consistent skincare routine controls acne and oily skin in winter. Follow a regular cleansing and moisturizing schedule to help your skin adjust and stay clear. Make it a daily habit, and you’ll see better results.

Be ready to adjust your routine as needed. Your skin’s needs change with the seasons, so try new products and techniques as necessary.

Professional Treatments for Winter Skin Concerns

Winter skin issues sometimes need a professional touch. At Original Skin Med Spa, we offer facials, chemical peels, and laser treatments to unclog pores and reduce oil. These treatments keep your skin clear and help prevent breakouts.

How Laser Technology Works to Improve Skin

At Original Skin Med Spa and Laser Clinic, our team uses advanced laser technology to target a range of skin concerns and enhance overall skin health. Lasers have become a cornerstone in aesthetic treatments, thanks to their ability to address pigmentation, stimulate collagen production, and improve the skin’s texture. But how exactly does laser technology work to transform the skin? In this guide, we’ll explore the science behind laser treatments and how they deliver remarkable results.

How Lasers Work on the Skin

Laser technology works by directing concentrated light energy to specific areas of the skin. Different types of lasers are designed to target various skin issues, from discoloration to fine lines. Lasers operate at different wavelengths, allowing practitioners to customize treatments to each patient’s unique skin type and concern. These wavelengths penetrate the skin to varying depths, delivering targeted energy that either repairs, resurfaces, or stimulates the tissue.

Treating Pigmentation

One of the key benefits of laser services is their effectiveness in treating pigmentation issues such as sun spots, age spots, and melasma. Lasers target melanin (the pigment responsible for skin color) within the skin, breaking it down so that the body can naturally eliminate the excess pigment. This process is both precise and gentle, allowing for the correction of dark spots without damaging the surrounding tissue. Patients can enjoy a more even skin tone and a rejuvenated complexion with laser treatments tailored specifically to pigmentation concerns.

Stimulating Collagen Production

Collagen is a structural protein that keeps the skin firm and youthful, but its production declines as we age. Laser treatments can stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production, helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging over time. When laser energy penetrates the skin, it creates controlled micro-injuries that prompt the body to begin the healing process. As a result, collagen fibers rebuild, leading to smoother, tighter skin with a youthful glow.

Improving Skin Texture and Reducing Scarring

Laser technology also works wonders for improving skin texture by addressing concerns such as acne scars, enlarged pores, and rough patches. By resurfacing the top layers of skin, laser treatments remove damaged skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy cells. This process not only reduces the appearance of scars but also leaves the skin feeling smoother and more refined. The laser specialists at Original Skin Med Spa and Laser Clinic can recommend the best laser options based on your specific needs to ensure optimal results.

Benefits of Laser Services

For those looking to enhance their skin’s appearance, laser treatments offer an effective, non-invasive solution. Laser services are versatile, making them ideal for a variety of skin concerns across different skin types. Your Guide to INTRAcel RF Microneedling

Are you looking for a way to achieve a more defined jawline and a beautifully contoured face? If so, INTRAcel RF Microneedling can be your go-to treatment. This advanced, non-invasive treatment effectively tightens skin, stimulates collagen production, and rejuvenates your skin’s overall appearance.

Read through how INTRAcel RF Microneedling can work for you.

What Is INTRAcel RF Microneedling?

INTRAcel RF Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that combines two powerful techniques: microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy. This combination effectively treats concerns like sagging skin and excess fat in unwanted areas.

Microneedling involves using fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which triggers the body’s natural healing process. This process stimulates collagen production, a protein that keeps your skin firm, smooth, and youthful.

When combined with RF energy, which heats the deeper layers of the skin, the treatment becomes even more effective. The heat produced by the RF energy helps further tighten the skin and enhance the overall contour of your face.

The Benefits of INTRAcel RF Microneedling

There are numerous benefits to choosing INTRAcel RF Microneedling for skin tightening and face contouring needs. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Non-invasiveness: INTRAcel RF Microneedling is a non-invasive procedure, meaning no incisions or downtime is required. You can return to your normal activities immediately after the treatment.
  • Effective for All Skin Types: This treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and tones, making it a versatile option for anyone looking to improve their skin’s appearance.
  • Stimulates Collagen Production: By promoting collagen production, INTRAcel RF Microneedling helps to restore your skin’s elasticity and firmness, which is essential for a more youthful look.
  • Long-Lasting Results: The results of INTRAcel RF Microneedling continue to improve over time as collagen production increases, providing long-lasting skin rejuvenation and face contouring.
  • Minimal Discomfort: While you may experience mild redness and swelling after the treatment, these side effects are temporary and usually resolve within a few hours to a few days.

How INTRAcel RF Microneedling Works for Skin Tightening and Face Contouring

INTRAcel RF Microneedling targets the deeper layers of the skin, which makes it highly effective for tightening sagging skin and creating a more sculpted jawline. The microneedles penetrate the skin and deliver RF energy directly into the dermal layers.

While this process stimulates collagen production, it also promotes the contraction of existing collagen fibers, leading to immediate and long-term skin tightening. As collagen production increases, your skin will become firmer, smoother, and more resilient. This results in a more defined jawline and improved facial contours, giving you a youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

How Juvederm Volbella Works for Lip Lines

As we age, fine lines around the lips begin to develop. If you’re looking for an effective non-surgical lip line treatment, you may have heard about Juvederm Volbella. Juvederm Volbella is a dermal filler formulated to reduce the appearance of lip lines. Here, we will talk about how it works for lip lines for a more youthful look.

What Is Juvederm Volbella?

Juvederm Volbella is a dermal filler designed specifically for the delicate area around the lips. It contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin that helps retain moisture and add volume. What sets Juvederm Volbella apart is its unique Vycross technology, which allows HA molecules to settle in smoothly with longer-lasting results in the skin.

How Juvederm Volbella Works

1. Hyaluronic Acid-Based Formula

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the core ingredient in Juvederm Volbella. This biocompatible substance attracts and retains water, making it ideal for volumizing and smoothing fine lines. HA links into the tissues when injected, providing a natural look and feel.

2. Reducing Fine Lines with Volbella

Juvederm Volbella works for fine lines by filling in the tiny wrinkles around the lips. The HA in Volbella attracts water, plumping the skin and smoothing over lines. This reduces the appearance of fine lines, giving the lips a more youthful and refreshed look.

What to Expect During a Volbella Treatment?

1. Minimally Invasive Treatment

Juvederm Volbella injections are minimally invasive. Before the procedure, a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic is applied for a comfortable treatment session. The injections use fine needles to target specific areas around the lips.

2. Immediate Results with Minimal Downtime

One significant advantage of Juvederm Volbella is that results are visible immediately after the procedure. Patients notice smoother lip lines and enhanced lip volume right away. Since the treatment is minimally invasive, downtime is minimal, allowing most people to return to regular activities shortly after the procedure.

3. Personalized Treatment

The amount of filler used can be personalized based on the patient’s desired outcome. The treatment can be adjusted to reduce wrinkles around the lips, whether aiming for a subtle enhancement or more noticeable volume.

Benefits of Juvederm Volbella

1. Long-Lasting Effects

Thanks to Vycross technology, Juvederm Volbella’s results are long-lasting. The cross-linked HA molecules break down more slowly, meaning the treatment’s effects can last up to 12 months. This duration makes Juvederm Volbella a convenient option for those who prefer less-maintenance treatments.

2. Natural-Looking Enhancement

Juvederm Volbella provides a smooth, natural-looking enhancement. The filler’s consistency allows for precise Volbella application with natural results. Our founder, Patti Cox, is an expert at smoothing over fine lines without appearing overdone.

3. Versatility

In addition to treating lip lines, Juvederm Volbella can also be used to add subtle volume to the lips. This versatility makes it an excellent option for those looking to enhance their overall lip appearance while addressing fine lines.

Safety and Side Effects

Juvederm Volbella is an FDA-approved filler, and its safety profile is well-established. The procedure is considered safe when performed by a qualified and experienced skin care professional. However, as with any injectable treatment, there can be side effects, such as swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site. These side effects are mild and resolve within one to three days.

HydraFacial MD

HydraFacial MD is a non-invasive treatment that improves the look of your skin and restores its health. The process involves a three-part regimen: cleansing, exfoliating, and then infusing the skin with intensive serums.

This treatment is ideal for all skin types and targets issues such as dryness, aging, and acne.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion renews overall skin tone and texture. It utilizes a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

This treatment is particularly beneficial for addressing sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, and other skin-related concerns.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This treatment has the dual benefit of triggering the cellular regeneration process and enhancing the application and penetration of skincare products.

Facials

Our facials include products and techniques that meet our patients’s skin care goals. From deep cleansing and moisturizing to age-defying options, each facial is designed to improve the skin’s health and vitality.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels improve the skin’s appearance by applying a chemical solution to the skin, which causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Chemical peels can be very effective in treating acne, hyperpigmentation, and aging signs.

Permanent Cosmetics

If you’ve been wanting to say, “I woke up like this,” then you should try permanent cosmetics. Permanent cosmetics involve implanting pigments into the skin to replicate the look of natural makeup.

Our treatments define eyes, brows, and lips, while also effectively camouflaging scars and vitiligo.

Waxing and Tinting

We provide expert waxing services to achieve smooth skin and fine shape for eyebrows and other facial hair. Tinting services are also available to enhance the color and shape of your eyebrows and eyelashes, creating a more polished look.

Laser Skin Resurfacing: Erasing Wrinkles and Imperfections for Youthful Skin

Laser skin resurfacing treatments are non-invasive procedures using concentrated heat and light waves to improve skin tone, coloration, and texture while diminishing skin imperfections like dark spots and acne scars. They’re an ideal means of achieving more youthful skin with minimal downtime.

If this is your first time hearing about this kind of treatment, Patti Cox and the rest of the Original Skin team are here to give you a better idea of how this all works.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

The laser beam’s interaction with skin tissue stimulates the body’s healing response. After treatment, the skin sloughs off damaged cells and generates new, healthier replacements. As the old cells disappear, flaws like dullness, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation are reduced or eliminated.

The new skin that emerges is firmer, smoother, and more elastic due to new collagen growth. Whatever your skin type, laser treatments can help improve your skin quality.

Types of Laser Skin Treatments

Two types of lasers are used in facial rejuvenation. Ablative lasers like carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium lasers remove the topmost layer of skin while heating the deeper layers of the dermis to stimulate collagen growth.

Noticeable improvements in skin tone and texture, as well as wrinkle, scar, and dark spot reduction, can be seen after one treatment, and these changes can last for years with proper care. Although the procedure is non-invasive, it can be somewhat aggressive and involve significant downtime and aftercare.

Nonablative lasers like pulsed-dye lasers or doped erbium (Er:YAG) lasers heat deeper layers of skin to stimulate collagen growth without removing the skin’s surface layer. This type of procedure is gentler, but the effects are less dramatic. Improvements in fine lines, pigmentation, skin tone, and texture are gradual, and it usually takes three to six treatments scheduled over a few weeks to achieve ideal results.

Both ablative and non-ablative laser resurfacing treatments can be performed using a fractional laser, reducing the risk of side effects and shortening your recovery time.

Which Type of Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment is Right for You?

While lasers can effectively rejuvenate the skin, they must be appropriately selected and applied to suit your skin type, skin tone, and aesthetic goals. Both ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing treatments can safely improve the condition of your skin when they are administered by a qualified practitioner.

Typically, ablative lasers are appropriate for patients who:

  • Are exhibiting moderate to advanced signs of aging
  • Have significant acne scarring
  • Have moderately deep facial lines and wrinkles
  • Can take time off to recover at home

Non-ablative lasers are ideal for patients who are:

  • Exhibiting early signs of aging.
  • Relatively youthful and have resilient skin.
  • Willing to undergo a series of treatments to achieve their desired result over time.

After any laser resurfacing treatment, you must always use sun protection because new sun exposure can damage your skin and reverse your results.

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the most versatile cosmetic procedures available for scar, dark spot, and wrinkle reduction and is a great way to refresh your appearance.
